Ski holiday

I only took one photo on holiday but, as you see, the view from the Méribel-Mottaret flat balcony is so stunning you don't need another - nature reserve in the foreground, Mt Vallon behind.  We had brilliant sunshine every single day and every lift was open, though the snow became mushy and slushy on the bottom runs as the day wore on and we often came down the last leg in the télécabine (but don't tell anyone.)  My companions were excellent fun and luckily skied the same sedate pace as I did all over the 3 Valleys. My children can hardly contain their mirth when I tell them the others called me a 'streak of blue lightning on skis' as I'm a tortoise by family standards. Still, I now feel invigorated.  So lovely to ski in Spring sunshine for a change. I gather from agent there are bargain prices now.
Because of all the skiing, subsequent exhaustion and then lots of chat, I only read one book -
One Day by David Nicholls.   Brilliant witty writing - I kept thinking how I wish I'd written that sentence. Trenchant depictions of scenes from modern life - you recognise some of them immediately, e.g. the overdone wedding. However, there wasn't a lot of plot and the male character was deliberately unappealing.  Maybe there's been too much hype, but I felt a smidgin of disappointment towards the end.

Otto went to stay with his mother and sister, and no doubt had a lovely time.  He's grown again and grown up a bit.  Perhaps he'll become the Perfect Puppy after all.  We're starting a new lot of classes next week.

Breathtaking photo Susie, did you get any inspiration for your next novel?

Great photo and your trip sounds exhiliarating.

I have to agree with you about the book. I must admit I wasn't sure what all the fuss was about and found it rather dull. I was wondering if I'd missed something somewhere (which happens often), so it's good to know I'm not the only one that was a little disappointed in it.

That looks wonderful Susie. Glad you had a great time.

Ahh, yes, and 'One Day' - such a simple concept - I wish I'd thought of it - but I agree about Dexter. And the romantic in me would rather have seen a happier ending.

It will be interesting to see how the film depicts it ;)
