Cabbages, orchids and books

Actually the ornamental cabbages don't last that well in a bouquet but they're quite dramatic (Tesco's best). As for the orchid, isn't it marvellous? I'm so proud and pleased that both my orchids have reflowered - I'm usually bad with houseplants. The top pink number has been flowering for three months, amazingly good value and so beautiful.
Now finished reading The Distance between Us, by Maggie O'Farrell. No doubt about it she's a good original writer, getting better with every book. Personally I prefer more of a linear narrative to too much back and forthing in time - but all the same I became absorbed by the story of Stella and Nina. The Indy gave it a good review. If you like ghostly short stories and the Oxford canal, go for Jane Gordon Cumming's The Haunted Bridge - nice v.slim book to fit in a stocking or coat pocket. Only trouble is, you wouldn't want to spend the night on a boat in a lonely, spooky stretch of the canal after reading it. Admittedly I don't much like sleeping on boats anywhere these days.
Isn't it exciting, according to the Sun, Richard & Judy's bookclub is coming back to More 4 only without R&J. Instead they will have a celebrity panel including, wait for it, Gok.

The orchid is gorgeous!

By coincidence I finished reading 'The Distance Between Us' recently.

I don't think that the cabbages count as they were bought, but the orchid is wonderful!

I'm so glad you enjoyed my ghost stories, Susie. I wrote them because I do find sleeping on a little boat in the middle of nowhere scary, but I didn't really mean to put everyone else off the canals!

Also enjoyed Jane's book.

I love your orchid. I have several, but at the moment they only consist of leaves and no flowers.

I'll have to order Jane G-C's book, I loved, A Proper Family Christmas too.

Congratulations on that beautiful orchid. Mine always die - relatively quickly.

I wonder what Gok reads? Maybe a Catherine Cookson rags to riches romp...
