Perfect Puppy - Not

Now have to barricade kitchen sofa with chairs. Good that my tatty kitchen furniture is 30 years old. Had been thinking of replacing 70s pine table, glad I didn't bother. Had to remove ancient rattan bamboo chair as it must be extra tasty, despite anti-chew spray. Bought lots more toys from pet supermarket, but they don't seem to be as interesting as sticks and fir cones, today's newspaper and, of course, shoes.  Puppy school going OK, but as you see there is quite a bit of room for improvement before Otto becomes the Perfect Puppy of the training manuals.  Took him for his first short walk down to the duck pond today, very exciting, he thought.

Puppy training going on all over. Yesterday I laughed over friend's two golden puppies and their snacking on an $80 computer cable. At least things are happening in order at your place, Susie. Otto cuts teeth on furniture that needs replacing anyway. Sure love seeing and hearing about his education in progress.

Your puppy sounds adorable, having taken in a 10 month rescue puppy last year, I am with you on everything. Licking the dishwasher, eating the furniture, drinking from the pool. But worth it. Enjoy Otto, he will reward you beyond words! Good luck with your new book too! x

Thanks for your comments, girls. Yes, am having a problem staying ahead as Otto seems to grow taller every day!

Hi Susie,
Lovely photos, and good luck with the new book. Can I put you on my stylish blogger award list? No obligations.

So gorgeous. Looks like he's been reading The Perfect Puppy, but not taking much notice of it :o)

Oh what fun living with a mischievous but adorable puppy. All our cats are adults but we still have to barricade certain places to prevent too much damage. Hopefully Otto will not ruin quite so many of your belongings as he grows older.

How wonderful to have a sofa in the kitchen, that's my idea of heaven (well, one of my ideas of heaven!) I've always wanted a living room style kitchen, but our 16 ft x 9 ft kitchen is just too small.
Younger son has a puppy, too (a Patterdale terrier) and brings him here several times during the week when I look after him. I know about making sure there are things he cannot reach, such as making sure that the kitchen chairs are firmly under the table, so he can't leap up onto them and from there to the table top and from there to the work tops! Also, making sure that when he barks I take him outside as now he knows that he's not meant to widdle on the kitchen floor! But, like Otto, he's adorable. (Why Otto? Any special reason? Our son's little chap is called Barry because they bought him from a breeder in Wales, near the town of Barry, I understand.)

Thanks for your kind comments. I called him Otto because he was the eighth pup of the litter.
