The Italian Job - hang on, lads

Fans of The Italian Job will remember this literally cliff-hanging closing scene, but Michael Caine did have an idea.
Meanwhile, last month the Royal Society of Chemistry announced a competition to solve the problem of unloading the gold without the bus falling down the cliff. The solution must be based on rigorous scientific principles. Apparently 700 entries have been received - this is all in The Times so it must be true.
Of course, the remake of the Italian Job was rubbish. You must watch the original 1969 version and know crucial elements of the dialogue by heart if you are a true aficionado.

Have not been posting owing to dire feverish cold. Too much else going on in the world to worry about that though.

How satisfying, Susie! But I'm sorry they didn't get the gold.

Hope you feel much better very soon. No more clambering around in cold lofts or soaking your hands in bowls of luke-warm hand-washing water until you're quite fit again, I think.

I was rooting for Clio right from page one and loved the unexpected way she finally got her man in the end.
When is the next book coming out???

Thanks, girls. I have heroically pulled through and overcome the dire cold, I reckon!

Thank you for visiting me in France! I shall try to get a copy of one of your books, which I'm sorry to say I havent read...yet. Hampshire is one of the places that we visit every year to catch up with my husband's family. What a beautiful county it is.
I hope you are well now.

I didn't even dream of watching the remake. What on earth was the point? I don't think I want to know the answer; I like to think the coach is still there!

Hope your cold clears up soon.
