Aquilegia/columbine

For the last two or three years rabbits (not my favourite animal) have eaten all the aquilegia and half the rest of my plants, and so I was obliged to put netting round the flower beds, usually a day too late. Fortunately this spring they seem to have limited their menu to grass for now. Or maybe our friend the stoat and a curious neighbourhood cat have been on the prowl.

Lovely! I adore aquilegia - they used to grow rampantly in my previous garden and were a real joy in their variety and profusion. Sadly, they don't seem to like the soil here so much.

Good luck in keeping the rabbits away!

Beautiful picture, aquilegia are one of my favourite flowers. Ours are only just coming through, it will be a couple of weeks before they flower. I must plant some more, changes to the garden mean we don't have many at the moment.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

I love the beautiful pictures on your blog especially the wisteria.

Well done for getting the better of those pesky rabbits this year.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Especially encouraging, as I said, because I'm new to digital photography - Luddite I know but everyone else in my family takes photos so I didn't bother until I started the blog. I haven't yet quite mastered close-ups so will wait for a lesson from Son 3 when he next appears.

Favourites of mine, too, and a lovely picture of them!

Some of our cats are partial to a rabbit or two. Unfortunately they tend to bring us the remains and leave them on the doorstep.
